Two-thirds of the interior is marble, and the magnificent 293-foot gold leaf and gray (lead-colored) dome is five feet higher than the U.S. Capitol dome. Consisting of 535,000 square feet of floor space, the building has 333 rooms in its main unit and west and east wings. The Capitol Complex consists of 50 acres, 14 buildings, 13 statues and memorials, and 4 fountains. A film permit is required for use of any portion of this state government property, and requests for use must be made in advance.
